It is sad to report that at a meeting of Fareham Borough Council’s planning committee today (23rd Jan), they decided to approve the preliminary application for the IFA2 converter building and the final application for the cabling.
18 people spoke against the project highlighting a whole range of potential problems:

2 people spoke for the project – one of these was the project applicant, National Grid’s project manager. Pertinent aircraft operating safety questions from one of the opposing Fareham councillors seemed to annoy the committee chair.
The hope now is that the application sent in to the relevant minister by the three local residents’ associations, GBC councillors and Caroline Dinenage MP will cause the planning permission to be called in for a look by an independent inspector.
